Ranchi: The Ranchi Archdiocese, under the Catholic Church on Tuesday set up a shelter home at Bhusar Village under Chandwa Block in Latehar district to house the homeless.
A food bank was also inaugurated at the same spot to offer food to the homeless at the shelter home.
Inaugurating the shelter home and the food bank, Theodore Mascarenhas, Ranchi auxilliary bishop and apostolic administrator of Daltonganj, said that the shelter home is dedicated to people of all faiths, who are homeless and have nowhere to go.
“The shelter home has been set up in association with the street providence trust, Goa,” he said.
“There is an urgent need to reach out to these people, so that no one retires hungry and under an open sky. All such people, irrespective of their race or religion, would be welcomed at this shelter home. They would be fed and taken care of, absolutely free of any charges,” Bishop Mascarenhas said.
